Oakdale Joint Unified School District | Oakdale, CA

29th Annual Science Fair - 2012

Your child has the exciting opportunity to participate in the 29th Oakdale District Science Fair!  To enter, your child must complete the Science Fair Application available below. The deadline to return the Science Fair Application is Monday, February 13, 2012. This informational packet includes Science Fair Event Schedules, General Instructions and Requirements, Required Project Elements, Judging Standards, OJUSD Live Animal Research Plan, and suggested organization for a typical science project. All of this information as well as pictures of winning science fair boards are also available below.

Classroom teachers may offer limited assistance to participating individuals or groups, however, the bulk of the project is expected to be completed by the student(s). The Oakdale Joint Unified School District and area businesses will recognize student efforts and achievements in science at the Awards Ceremony on March 21, 7pm, at Magnolia Auditorium.

Thanks again to the generous donation of the FES Hall, teachers will have the opportunity to take their students on a walking field trip to view district science projects. Information about class visitations will be provided to each elementary site.

Student Scientist Evening: Please join us Wednesday, March 14, 6:00-7:00 pm, to hear Oakdale students share their science projects. Students who have projects displayed will be asked to “host” their project to give visitors a first hand account of their experimentation. Student scientist participants will be entered in a science drawing for special science prizes!

Live Animal Research: Students observing or testing live animals must complete OJUSD Live Animal Research Plan. More details can be found in General Instructions and Requirements.

County Science Fair: 10-15 selected winning projects (K-8th) from each site will be chosen to enter the Stanislaus County Science Fair, May 14-18, 2012 at the Martin Petersen Event Center, located at 720 12th Street, Modesto, across the street from the Stanislaus County Office of Education. Students will be notified during the OJUSD Science Fair week if their project is eligible. More information is available at the Stanislaus County K-8 Science Fair website.

For further information please contact your child’s school, leave a message for Kathy Jenkins at Magnolia School 847-3056, or email kjenkins@oakdale.k12.ca.us.
